ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MATTHEW J. METZGER

TRANS FICTION WEEK NOVEMBER 14 - 20 2016

Transgender Awareness Week is from Monday 14th to Sunday 20th November 2016. So we’re going to mark the occasion!
Transgender and non-binary people are enormously under-represented in media, including in the LGBT fiction world, and yet we have so many amazing stories to be told. So for one week, we are going to be focusing on transgender and non-binary voices, perspectives, and characters as told by the people writing, reading, working and creating queer stories.
We’re seeking blog submissions from people of all gender identities—yes, including cis—about transgender folks in LGBT fiction, from the living and breathing transgender and non-binary people among us (hi!) to the adventures of our fictional counterparts. If you write trans fiction already, tell us how. If you want to read more trans fiction, tell us what. If you’re trans, tell us what it’s like, and the dos and don’ts of positive representation. If you’re cis, tell us why you care and what your fellow allies can do to help trans people more. From where are the trans heroes in M/M through to why travelling to cons can be scary as hell, we want to hear it. Everyone is welcome, as long as we share the shame goal: inclusion, irrespective of gender identity.
Submissions will go up at www.transfictionweek.com throughout the week. Submissions should include the post itself (up to 2,000 words), one graphic if desired, and an author bio of no more than 200 words. Deadline for submissions is Friday 11 November 2016. Completed submissions should be sent to transfictionweek@gmail.com by that time.
Interested? Fill out this form, and we’ll be in touch! If you have any questions, please drop us a line at transfictionweek@gmail.com
